Default Clutch Pedal Sticking...

Iv got abit of a problem with my clutch pedal sticking..

When I push the clutch to change gear it seems to get stuck halfway up when I release it. Its only the pedal, the clutch and flywheel are brand new so no problems there. Ive WD40't every part I can get to inside he car but its still happening!

Any ideas guys/gals??

Cheers

Same here. I changed my clutch and flywheel and was all ok for a month or 2.

Now the pedal sticks half way (but not when I drive like Miss Daisy) it drives me mad!

It will be a missing return spring, directly underneath the top mount intercooler, couple of quid to buy

the spring may be causing it but in most cases the spring doesnt really do anything if the spring is there you either need to bleed it or you have a leak

This is a common problem, especially after a new clutch has bedded in.
A SMALL adjustment is required at the pedal.
It only happens when you give it the beans.

Nothing to do with springs. See post #12. A common problem after a clutch is bedded in.

found this: https://www.scoobynet.com/wales-26/8...tch-pedal.html

so would it be an idea to replace the pedal spring?
or at least strip it all down and clean it up?

and there's talk of 'free play' on the pedal on classics so this can be tweeked? how?

Just look at the pedal operation and you will see how to adjust the rod. At present if your clutch is sticking when you give the car the beans you need to take some of the play out of the adjustment. It is a simple job which will become obvious to you when you look at the mechanism.

I bled the system and used dot 5.1 to replace the fluid as initially I thought it was heat related.

Thanks Harvey I'll get upside down in the foot well and have a fiddle

You know I actually prefer it when the pedal is only an inch off the floor. Is there anyway to have it like that all the time? Or by doing that would you be riding the clutch?

I'll def post it up... I'm surprised how many ppl this problem effects and there is not 1 solution as it can be several diff things.

If you're car is doin this go thru the list and try these things until cured...

Step 1: bleed the system and use DOT 5.1
Step 2: adjust the free play on the pedal
Step 3: change the slave cylinder

I've got another slave sittin round at home so if the pedal adjustment doesnt do it, I'll change the slave.

Watch this space

I had the same problem. Bled the system made no difference. Got the slave cylinder changed. Bobs your uncle, it was solved.

My bro has exactly the same gear box and clutch... fitted at around the same time too.

He has no probs with his at all and his pedal feels much springier than mine... mine almost feels gritty if that makes sense. Not a smooth action on the return.

I reckon it probably is the slave also, but will have a fiddle with the pedal first anyway
