Has anybody modified changed the fuel / inejector rails (94 uk turbo) if so any details pictures...
The only ones I have found so far seem to be for the new style and the injectors look different to me...
Incidently anybody know the toyata supra's fuel pump flow rate and pressure?? or recommend a suitable cheap uprated fuel pump??

David,
Apart from doing the "parallel" mod, the rails are a bit limited. The later Phase 2 rails, and injectors are different, but not much better.
You could get custom rails made (or make them yourself) and then use any injector of your choosing, but it won't be "cheap".
I'd do the parallel mod, uprate the fuel pump, and get an adjustable fuel pressure reg', Then see where you stand, and whether you need bigger injectors, or not.
Mark.

Im definatley doing the parallel mod.. whilst the inlet manifold is off.. the amount of bends is disgusting.. infact looking at the way subaru have run some of the pipes makes you wonder what they were thinking...
I am on the look out for adjustable fuel pressure regulator and fuel pump at the moment.. just dont know whether i need to replace the in tank pump if I make a swirl pot.... (may not bother with this though)
I think I may just remove the end of the rail and then machine it to accept the pipe by screwing into it.. that doesnt really make sense does it?... I know what I mean.. Im waiting to see Andy (cossie converts) pictures of his rails and regulator first..
read on i club about dual feed pressure regulators which sound like they would be better? otherwise will have to T The fuel line??

David,
What you screw into, is up to you, and I don't think I even want to understand it
I "personally" wouldn't touch duel reg's. One only has to flow a few % less than the other, and then what !!!! I don't know of ANY professional engine builder/tuner who would recommend this.
I've got custom rails, but I had no choice. Just so that you know, even the GrpN/A cars only run moddified stock rails.

I like screwing... i normally have to get someone to do it for me as Im not much good with a tap
I prefer it when people say its the way prodrive / and others do it...
What I meant was remove the original fitting and get the hoses fitted with unions etc so that they will bolt straight into the rail with no kinks..
Anybody got any pics of fse pressure regulators....?? cant I just use the adjustable fuel injection regulator that demon tweeks sell for about thirty quid?

David,
You "can" use the 1:1 FSE, but I'd be a bit concerned, because I've found them not to be very linear. This is ok (sort of) if you are mapping the fueling, but may cause an issue with the "Yorkshire/Scottish" school of tuning
I used one very successfully with a Link, and Motec, but you WILL need an uprated pump of some sort.
The GrpN/A cars I mentioned, have modded rails similar to what you're looking at doing.

FSE Glencoe do an uprated fuel pump for the Impreza Turbo ITP160 for £145 - maybe worth a look....
Thanks

When you say not very linear how do you mean?? do the fse's adjust the rate / pressure themselves as well as whatever you set them at?
Are there any alternatives to the fse..
Gavin Ive seen that one but, was thinking of modifying one of a different car... as I simply dont believe in paying over £100 for a fuel pump... (im being tight )

David,
I've found the the differential pressure can vary. So if you set the fuel pressure to say, 3bar at atmospheric, 1bar of boost should see 4bar of fuel pressure, etc'. However, when we initially used an FSE on the engine dyno, there were frequent disparities. So we ditched it, in favour of an alternative. We could have mapped around it, but given the nature of the project, and the cost of dyno time, etc', I didn't want to mess about.
There are of course better reg's, but I'm afraid they don't match with your "Yorkshireman" ethos
Mark. PS. my Dads from Leeds, and it took me years to overcome Now I'm just broke all the time........

What do you recommend instead / are there alternatives?
Its not like me to normally to be like this, but as Im not driving it I dont like justifying the expense... besides its something to keep me entertained...
Just wait till I get it on a track... Just a shame I cant run at santa pod... they say I need a driving licence, but the only reason is to prove that I can, and so they dont get 16 year olds trying..

RE: Fuel Regs
Alternative to FSE valve:
webber regulator part number 3180012000. They are under £50 from a webber (webcon) dealer. They are rising rate items, AFAIK there are a couple of different ones ( different max pressure ). Cosworth engines use these as standard ( not sure which one ), they appear to be non adjustable on cosworths, but on the top there is a small cap, punch a hole through these and you find an allen key screwn underneath... If I remember correctly they have the pressure rating written around the top of it.
You can retro fit these to just about anything by fitting it into the return line to the tank and supplying a vac feed.
Found these to be alot more reliable than an fse in terms of stability.

The Weber/Cossie(2WD version) does work quite well......
Pt.no 1639278 but costs about £72 + vat.
Be careful, because there are cheaper versions, but they run lower pressure, and have the wrong fittings. The above uses 8mm tails.
