just been given a new ramair filter and before i get stuck fitting it and end up standing there scratching my head and getting splinters

which way up does it go?

Just a word of warning..what MY is your car? If it's MY99 or greater then you'd be better off selling the filter, they tend to kill the later MAF's - hence why they were dropped from the PPP.
As to fitting it - I've fitted an ITG and there is only 1 way it fits in, just look at how the standard filter went in and copy that.
