I drove my car to work this mornin and all was fine, when I drove home a noticed a faint whirring noise coming from the rear end. It starts whirring from the minute I pull off and gets slightly louder as I increase my speed. All so if I put my clutch in at speed and coast, it still makes this whirring sound. Any idea ok what it could be and why it's started all of a sudden??? Thanks in advance Gav

Brakes don't make any difference to the noise

my brakes were making noises like that not long ago (were sticking on), but now I have a noise from the rear that's at loudest at 40mph and gets quieter when going faster

The noises comin from the back, but I can't tell which side. it doesn't make any difference to the noise weather the brakes are on or off, or in the clutch is in or out?

Anymore ideas on what this could be?? Surely it can't be the diff, all the tyres are new so it can't be them.

found out that its the drivers side rear wheel bearing, my mechanic says he can get a bearing kit for £55, does that sound about right?
