Whiney front diff?
Hi am getting a whining noise from under what sounds like the front of the car, from about 35mph upwards.
Disengaging the clutch the same sound still occurs, and then letting the engine either drop in revs to idle whilst coasting in neutral it still occurs, same with blipping the throttle whilst coasting it still occurs.
Seems to take about 10-15 minutes before it gets noticable. Would describe the sound almost as if you are listening to a washing machine in another room on a spin cycle if that makes sense.
The guys who service my car couldn't find anything obvious in the short test drive they did, but by then I guess the car had sat and cooled for a while.
They did mention the centre diff may be on the way out, but the sound seems more in the engine bay area.
Poss the front diff, or diff bearings?
