Question

As title^^ I have been offerd a 98 engine out of a uk spec impreza turbo. Will I have any trouble fitting it into a WRX my95? Their basically the same engine right? The only notable difference is the coil mine runs on coil packs, can i just change everything so this new engine runs of the coil packs?

Cheers dudes.

95 wrx will have more bhp than a 98 uk car, also the 98's suffered with piston slap, if the motor in the wrxis ok, leave it be, if it's bu**ered, get one from a breaker the same, that way you'll avoid agro! also, even thought you'll have de-powered the car, it's still modified in the eyes i=of the insurance man!

AFAIK, pre-97 Phase 1 engines had a different wiring harness plugs for the ECU (2 vs. 3?). If so, you're either looking at chopping the loom about, or making further fairly extensive mods to get it to run. Sensors fitted to the engine are also different.

Avoid.

Red face

Thus is true alas the ignition sensor at the front of the engine is in the wrong place for mine so it won't fit.
