I couldn't find any 12v dc indicators on the RS site so did a searh and found several companies that do 12v digital read outs have a look at :-
www.calex.co.uk
www.tempcon.co.uk

Tempcon do several indicators that are 1/8, 1/16 and 1/32 din sizes that will support RTD's and thermocouples .

You will get different readings depending on the location of the EGT probe. Pre turbo will read higher than post turbo.

Most EGT gauges will read the correct temp. range.

Bear, I've been scouring the RS and Maplin sites for DVMs for quite a while and found some really nice ones for notthat much money. Although the data sheets don't mention direct thermocouple connection I thought the size and quality were good enough to waarant extra hassle of potentially having to make an extra little circuit to use a thermocouple. Specifically, I've ordered a couple of HE271 (manufacturer's part no.) DVMs from the Falcon range. Only problem is they're out of stock and will be upto 8 weeks for next delivery!!! However, it will probably take me that long to get around to installing them even if they arrived tomorrow! I ahve subsequently decided that I'm going to buy an EGT gauge so I can mount it into a pillar pod along with boost and AFR. The other temp meters I'm going to use for monitoring other things like oil temp...

Found a good display that uses K type thermocouple in RS , stock number 260-167 . Only draw back is that there is no back lighting and requires 5v supply , reads from -50 to 1000 degC . The display is also listed as in stock .

Bear, 5V is no problem - just a simple step down in voltage - a regulator or even a bunch of resistors can do that. Handy to have direct thermocouple connection though
