Anyone Dealt With G.E.A.R.S In Southport?
Hi All
Looking at getting my gearbox issues fixed rather than taking pot luck with a replacement.
Theres this place i have found:
G.E.A.R.S.
13B Cypress Road
Southport
Merseyside
PR8 6HE
which is not too far from Mid-Cheshire for me to travel too.
I have a dodgy 5th gear syncro (crunches from 4th to 5th) & 1st to 2nd gear is slighlty notchy when cold.
here is the reply i got - seems ok.....
Thanks for the email, firstly the problems you are stating don't cause a major concern. It sounds like syncro trouble and the selector fork pad might be worn on the first and second selector fork.
I will give you a couple of costings and then you can decide what you would like to do -
To cary out a localised repair to your gearbox with the faults reported and new seals, gaskets etc £275
If any bearings are required/worn then the cost of a full set of bearings are an additional £110 so total £385
And if other syncro rings are worn and it needs a full overhaul the total price would be £525
If required we can strip and evaluate you gearbox and then report back to you.
Any other help you need please email me
Andy
So are these good prices for my TY752VB4AA gearbox? an has anyone good or bad news/info about them?
Thanks folks

Not used them, but £525 seems like a pretty good price for a complete overhaul to me, they use some uprated parts to make it stronger as well i think dont they?
Would be interested to hear from someone who has used them...

i have not used them but have talked to them at a few shows, as a comparison when i had my gearbox rebuilt due to bearing failure it cost £550 cash that was new bearings and syncro's at the time other places wanted a £1000+ and jap performance parts wanted £1500 for a used box lol.

i sent another email about the work & they said it is including VAT & genuine parts, so seems pretty good. Just hope someone can give me a heads up to go for it or to stay clear....
