Default need a stronger gearbox

ok people i have a subaru wrx sti my95. i have been throught quite a few gearboxs in the last 2 years i fitted a uk box last time which has actually lasted a while compaired to the normal sti boxs, but last week i dont a donut just messing about as it started to whine. so stopped straight away, but now even if i drive slowly and come down the gears you can hear it whine so i guessing its on its way out again.now is there another stronger box out there which would take say 330-350bhp without killing my gearbox, my mate has a 5 speed ty754 in his sti running 343bhp and no problems at all.i cant really afford to put a 6 speed or ppg gearbox in so looking for another box that maybe a little stonger than a ty752 sti box any advise would be much appriciated

I've ran a sti box in mine with 450 bhp and its lasted very well no whining, have you checked the oil level? Or if its contaminated with water?

No idea how the box will get contaminated with water! The TY754 boxes are stronger. If you can pick up a TY754VN4AA out of a blobeye wrx that would be the best option other than that a TY754VN1AA or 2AA out of a late classic would be the next option. Both use 3.54 rear diffs so you would need to check what you currently have fitted and if needs be change the rear diff to match. You shouldnt pay more than 300-400 for the above. I used a TY754VN4AA in my race RA when it was around 400bhp with a 2.5 and I was not mechanically sympathetic with it and it was still perfect when i removed it.

A late v5-v6 classic sti 5 speed will cope with that. The code is TY754VBAAA.

Its also fitted to the p1, you will most likely need the rear diff to suit as its got a 4.444 final drive

Perhaps it's you

TY752VB4AA 320+ bhp no issues and plenty of abuse munched a clutch but box is great.

I have been through two TY54 gearboxes before putting in a six speed, always ends up more expensive to keep breaking boxes. It's easier to get the right gearbox and not worry about it

Torque kills gearboxes, not BHP

all of the 5 speeds are there or there abouts in capacity, so you'll just break them all. option would be 6 speed or ppg build, not cheap though
