1 - Yes, most cars will pass the MOT with just the centre cat re-installed (just take it for a good thrash before the test, to make sure the Cat's nice and hot).

2- Have no idea what you mean But some well known Scooby specialists will 'loan' you a sports Cat centre section for a few hours in exchange for a small fee for fitting/removal

(looking at your location, check the local Scooby specialists )

3- I have a WR Sport BB, SS DP & Magnex resonated centre, fitted in that order. I would say the DP adds only a little noise inside the car, mainly turbo whistle and wastegate chatter, so not intrusive. Does make the noise outside a bit louder under hard acceleration though

4- Yes, turbo spins up ~500rpm earlier, and free-revving >5000rpm.

5- Good solution if you don't want any hassle at MOT time, but £400

6- I think Scoobysport charge £70, when I had mine done it took about an hour and a half IIRC.

Cheers
Tim

Question

Ello there, just a quick few questions I was hoping someone out there could answer:

I need a new downpipe (current one has 2 'gun gum' bandages round it due to holes - which are bearing up pretty well surprisingly with no leaks) - anyway, I was wondering the following:

1 - can I fit a decat downpipe and have my old cat put back in just for the MOTS? (interchangeable section of cat / straight through)

2- is it worth doing this? Maybe just find a 'special' MOT tester?

3- will any decat DP cause serious noise to cabin? (don't mind if it;s just outside) ! (I have decat SS centre section, TSL BB and noise levels are just about right)

4- any serious performance gains? (I have ITG air filter )

5- what about the Graham Goode DP with hi-flow cat ? £400 though.

6- Anyone know of cost of fitting?

Loads of questions I know............! Appreciate any help ...

Cheers
Alex

cheers mate, I think most of them are Stainless Steel aren't they for longevity. Damn, probably stainless too loud cos I do many a long journey.

BPM..........hmmmm...mild steel...hmmmm. Not sure I'd want to fit a 'mild steel' downpipe ! Though I guess that'd last for donks anyway really.

What I need is someone to weld my current DP together I think !
