HELP NEEDED
hi all need to pick at your brains
traveling to work the other morning on motorway in 5th all of a sudden i lost gear so i changed down to 4th to try and limp it off motorway did about half a mile then engine cut out, had it recovered by brakdown company who said it could be transmition car starts with clutch pushed in but wont go in any gear and if i let the clutch out it stalls the engine,you can push the car backwards and forwards easy if that helps, just wondering if anyone has had a similer problem so i can get something done the car is a 2001 bugeye wrx

I would say the large nut that holds on 5th has come loose, normal symptoms is it popping out of 5th when criusing. However when mine came loose it broke a woodruf key and I lost 3rd then 2nd and finally couldn't get any gears at all.
sounds like something may have come loose when mine went i was driveing at 40 the all of a sudden i herd a loud bang and all the wheels locked up.if i had my foot on the clutch i could move the car but when i let it out it would stall,so maybe your gearbox has gone m8
