found a company who can recondition my box for 450 so might get that done I think unles anyone thinks the P1 box will go bang again ?

Well its from this company www.gears.tv never used them before, he is doing me 450 for the box and 125 for the diff then 20 to skim the flywheel ,or he has another box link below

Would appreciate some feedback on how good the box is, service etc once fitted as my RB5 box is due a rebuild and this looks a good, reasonably priced option. Hope all goes well.

WRX hawkeye 5 speed will go in, but its a push clutch, not a pull clutch, you are limited to clutches for them,
I run a 5 speed in my hawkeye, straight cut, full dog engagement, had to have a 6 paddle push clutch made to handle torque,
your driving style will depend on how long your box will last, but std can handle 300bhp
on the hawkeye box with mine been modified its not the gears, its the case that will start to twist over 500. but they are a lot lighter than 6 speed.

I put a 2005 blobeye WRX box and driveshafts into my 2002 WRX wagon and it's a straight swop, same diff and gear ratios etc.... Not sure about the Hawkeye though.

Personally speaking, and if i had the spare wonga i would go the extra expense and do a 6speed conversion. You can compensate for the extra weight by putting a lot more power through it thatn the 5spd. 6spd should take 600ft/lb torque which is almost double what the 5spd will take.
