What does a knackered wheel bearing spound like??
Hi all, I have noticed an odd noise from my NSR wheel on my MY2000 Turbo as I drive, its not a constant droning or whining, or grinding sort of noise, in fact its not constant at all, sounds more like a tyre flat spot if you know what I mean, it makes a dull "padding" sort of noise in time with the wheel rotation, and slightly louder on right handers. I cant see a problem with the tyre either.
BTW, Im guessing replacing a bearing is a bit of a bitch of a job done at home?
Many thanks

If it is the bearing it will be a constant droning noise, a deep noise rather than a high pitched whine. I replaced one of the rear bearings on my 1.6GL (2wd) and it was relatively easy after I borrowed the correct sized socket from a mate. I'm not sure about doing on a drive wheel, it may be a bit harder but basically the old bearing just unscrews and the new one screws back on, mine needed a 30mm socket and a longer handle on the socket turning thing (not the racket but a thing with a socket connector that slid along a long metal bar)
