Any Paddle Clutch Experiences?
Just wondering how many have tried a paddle clutch, and what are your experiences and opinions of them. I have an exedy 4 puck 'thick plate' sprung friction plate together with the rest of the stage 2 clutch kit for a 6 speed. Have not got around to getting it fitted yet, but am getting cold feet after reading lots of negative reviews from users.
Are there any positive experiences out there? BTW car is used dailyas well as tracked, and will eventually be running 400/400

It will handle the 400/400 but puts all the pressure on your gearbox.
I had a 320/320 classic which ate clutches and then a 330 bug so bit the bullit and got a 6 paddle clutch for it. Nightmare in traffic. Really have to rev it to make it slip to pull away without judder.
Couldnt make it slip though, even in 5th on full boost.
Gearbox lasted a week.
I dare say the 6 speed will cope with it though, but the judder is violent.
Impossible to parallel park with it.

You need a twin plate.......I toyed with the idea of a paddle clutch but after some advise waited and saved for a twin plate.....Ended up getting an exedy twin plate secondhand from the blue Zen performance car and it is very easy to get on with.....
Just takes a bit of getting used to the rattling when clutch is engaged, but car is not a daily driver so not a problem ....

I was determined to get a clutch that wouldnt slip and went for it.
Even when changing gear on normal driving, you get a 'thud'. There is no slip, just bite.
On the other hand, for launches, theyre awsome!!

Its not for you then. Honest mate, I was the same when looking for one. You have to rev to 4k on, off, on, off to get it to slip. You look like a w@nker that likes the sound of his own exhaust when trying to park.

The exedy 4 puc is to harsh for daily use imo, to much judder on pick up. Standard clutches are pritty good, and wont be far of what you need. As mentioned above Exedy twin or single plate will work but comes with a cost. There are other options out there, Act, Carbonetic etc.
