Default 98 type r dccd issue

hello all, i have just purchased a type r and i was loving it untill the other day!!! i noticed a rather loud clicking when going round corners and one of my friends looked underneath it and said that from the transfer box back is covered in oil. now as far as i was aware impreza's dont have a t box as such? Is it a common problem for these gearboxes to blow a hole and loose all there oil?

Many thanks

Post a pic of it.

Is there an actual hole in the casing, or is it just leaking from one of the cas flanges?
Has the neutral or reverse sensor fallen out, or if the leak is further forward has one of the detents fallen out?

It's not a common issue AFAIK
It is quite common to have very small residual oil leaks on many of the older boxes, but not to have a hole in the casing.

I know where there's agood low mileage Sti3/4 DCCD box for £450
