Is there a problem with my centre diff? :(
Hello everyone,
Im new to this forum, but familiar with the scooby scene as i owned 7 since 2005 and love them to bits! . I Currently own a 1999 v5 sti import. This one i planned on actually keeping but i think developed a problem. The symptoms are : When i pull away slowly it feels like my front wheels occasionally slip. It doesnt happen all the time, and never happens if i pull away slightly faster than normal. Once i get above 5-10mph the problem completely dissapears and the car feels normal. The slip only occurs once i have been driving the car for around 15 - 20 minutes. This is happening regularly. I checked the front diff / geabox oil and it was low, but not empty. I did a full change on the oil yesterday and it has made the slip alot less often but it does still occur. The mileage of the car is 58k and it has had major services up to present date. I think it could be a centre diff / vicious coupler problem.
Could it be anything else? Also is this a major problem because i still have to drive the car regularly. If it is, how much will it cost to replace, where can i get a used one from and can it be fixed myself lol?
Help would be greatly appreciated on this.
Many Thanks,
Neil
