Default Version 7 5 speed or 6 speed gearbox

Hi, I am new to the scooby world, I have a version 6 classic at the moment, I do a lot of motorway miles and so need a high ratio gearbox, mine does 75 mph at 3000 revs and was wondering if anyone knows what sort of revs a 5 speed and 6 speed version 7 does at 75 mph, was hoping for around 2500 revs.

Any information would be great.

26 mph per 1000 rpm in top 2002 STI six speed

WRX will be very similar, you may need a 2007 STI box as everyone wants them for big power 2.5 builds.

If you get a JDM sti 7 then at 70mph you will be doing 3200rpm.

I think he wants to save fuel, not rev the engine harder...

The JDM v7 6 speed isn't really suitable for motorway driving, IMHO (well it wasn't for me anyway). If you can get one, a Forester STI 6 speed is the daddy, other than that a UK 6 speed is what you want.

A UK V7 WRX box will go straight onto your V6, it even uses the same driveshafts so minimal buggering around apart from having to change the diff as well but that's par for the course to keep your diffs and gears all the same and in one piece. 70mph with this box is 2711rpm.

A UK V7 STi box will be the same as above but you will need the propshaft as well. 70mph with this box is 2777rpm.

The newage WRX box is a tad leggier than the STi box despite its 6 gears but clearly nowhere near as strong as the STi.

Adited to add: The above is based upon 225/45/17 tyres. On 215/45/17 tyres 70mph will be WRX 2750rpm and STi 2817rpm
