dccd
#2
Can be fitted to any gearbox of the same era, but the easiest thing is to swap the transfer gears and dccd as one. My original p1 box had the centre diff and transfer box removed and replaced with a dccd and it's accompanying transfer box. In the P1 case it wasn't strictly necessary to swap the transfer box as well as it's 1:1 anyway, but it was apparently easier to do that. Just bolted straight in. Wiring it up takes more work obviously.
Transfer gears are either 1:1 or 1.1:1 so if you swap the pair as above and depending what you have you may need to change your rear diff to match the front diff i.e. if 1:1 then front and rear diffs must be the same ratio;if 1.1:1 then front and rear diffs must be different by the same proportion.

thanks answers my qestion perfectly as got type r but has 93wrx box in by code but yet still has dccd but rear brakes have been changed to earlier ones so presume they have put dccd into wrx box and had to fit wrx 4.111 rear diff too so would need to change hubs and shafts too ??? thats what i think has happened

Possibly but shafts/diff are a further set of possibilities - david at API seems to know chapter and verse on this and usually has a variety of shafts in stock - very friendly chap.
