Can any1 help here? I have just put a second hand engine into my 93 wrx import but when i turn the engine over with the key it seems to lock up at the gearbox after turning over a few times but i can turn the engine over with a bar and socket on the crank pulley. There is compression and everything else seems fine. It locks just as the car is about to tick over. Any help greatly appreciated!!!!

 

The engine is a 97 (non import) and the gearbox is the standard 93 box (Import). Could this be the problem as I know sum parts change after 96.
