MY 01 Intake temperatures
#1
I finally got my thermacouple today and took some readings
My car is a my01 with PPP and full de-cat running 1.2bar with STI7 scoop and undertray
Ambient temperature was 9degrees on the dash
Normal driving conditions = 18 to 22 degrees
5minutes of rev-limiter driving = 27 to 32 degrees
5minute idle = crept upto 50degrees
Now i thought these temperatures were pretty good and i tried my hardest to get it above 32 in hard driving but could'nt
I tried the same test albeit briefly with my old thermacouple with my standard scoop and the highest i got then was 42degrees, so the sti7 scoop must be doing something
Could anyone back up my findings because they seem very good

Just done some more tests and got some better figures(last figures were from cold)
slow town driving, averaged 28degrees
brisk drivng, temperature went down to 23degrees
hard driving still no more than 32degrees
some interesting points:
when i got back in the car after letting it stand for 20minutes temperatures were 55degrees and it took a good 5 minutes of normal driving to get these down to 28degrees
When drivng slowly and then booting it temperatures drop down to 23 straight away, it shows just you how the intercooler needs the turbo to be spinning to make full use of it

Hopefully if Jonno manages to take his STI7 intercooler off i will be taking that for the drive down to Catalunya i will then get to see what difference it makes

Interesting results - keep us informed of your progress with the STi intercooler.
Out of interest, why have you changed the scoop tray
if you haven't changed the intercooler - I'd have thought that it would mean air bypassing the standard intercooler?
