Hi Guys.

I have had to replace my UK Turbo 2000 engine as the bottom end was knocking and managed to get a WRX engine I know the history of with low mileage etc. The garage who is fitting it have hit a problem. The engine/starter motor/gearbox combination isnt working.

I know the engine is 4 bolt configuration, and gearbox is 8 bolt, but have been told this is OK as long as it seals, but the starter motor from the UK engine wont go onto the WRX engine, only one bolt hole or something. Are there two designs of starter motor or i am i just going to have to change the gearbox to match the engine? I would really rather not do this as ive i have just had to pay out for a gearbox rebuild.

Sorry for being vague, im not great on the technical stuff and being described the problem over the phone isnt ideal.

Any help/info muchly appreciated.
