I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a stronger clutch than the STi. I've got an STi V.4 engine and the clutch (used from it's donor in Japan) is toast after 1000km. When first installed this clutch slipped at 19PSI (maybe 320hp). I'm looking for something a little stronger. The car is currently putting out 300hp and I'm thinking of a larger IC and maybe better turbo with a GEMS system.

Ok, I looked up AP and they offer one good for 320 ft/lb of torque. I think the STi IV puts out 260. Is that enough margin or will a few mods boost that way up?

320lbs

What utter twaddle...

Get the AP organic - it'll easily take 320lbs - should be good for nearer 400lbs

Whatever you do - do not get the cerametallic - undrivable in 1st/2nd! - and you'll ruin everything on the car!

The sti5 clutch was good for 320bhp/300lbs - lasted 45000 miles no probs

Would that last for a little bit of slip-launch type abuse?

Also, is the holding more related to the pressure plate or the clutch itself? I was thinking that I may be able to order just the disc to replace the STi unit and use the old pressure plate and bearing to save moolah.

Ok, problem solved. Found an MRT unit in stock at my favourite shop. Going in on Tuesday.
