Semi Paddle clutch
Hi All
I'm looking at buying a car with a semi paddle clutch fitted. Could someone be so kind as to explain the differance in using it to a normal clutch? It's not going to be a car for daily use but will it be driveable?
Pro's and con's would be good
Cheers

Before we get to that point, you'd better tell us a bit more about this, as the term "semi-paddle" clutch makes about as much sense as someone saying they're going semi-swimming.
Either it's a paddle clutch or it ain't.

Ta. I notice they show the jaunty blue cover from two angles, but no image at all of the driven plate, which is the significant bit. Hmmmm. Not like Scoobyclinic have a bad rep though so you'd think that whatever the design is, it should work alright.
If nobody here has experience of this thing, and if this is going to affect a purchasing decision for you one way or the other, you'll probably be able to answer the most important question via a test drive. Either that or you could offer a few hundred quid less for the car, telling the seller that you're dubious about the clutch and are holding some back on the basis that you might need to get a new one (and get it fitted).

My STi came with one of these SC jobs fitted (with lightened flywheel). As Spitpin says I don't know what 'semi' means either.
Its obviously heavier and has a lot of bite. Using it smoothly took some getting used to. Very occasionally get some judder or sqeal when pulling away, but thats probably my fault. Does rattle a little on idle. Now that I'm used to it its fine and tbh find normal clutches too light and imprecise. Probably famous last words but had about 20k out of it so far with no problems.
