need advice on gearbox problem
had a refurbed box fitted to my car last month by a Local subaru specialist! he said he had a bit of bother with the linkage when fitting it anyway i got the car back the gearstick was flopping about.
I started car up and put it into first and as i pulled away there was a grinding noise in first gear. and it was bloody loud. dipped the clutch and the noise remained just as loud. changed ino second and there was a rubbing noise then the grinding noise dissapeared. turned round and took it to the garage and he had a listen and told me my first gear on the new box must be knackered. anyway i couldn't afford to have it removed again so i have had to persevere for the last month with this bloody loud niose in first gear.
I was driving the car yesterday and the gear stick has now went completely loose and bangs of either side of the gaiter. I jacked the car up and had a look underneath and there was no locating spring (was never fitted after box was put in i reckon) anyway is it possible that becasue he had to fiddle with the linkage, the bloody bushing is rubbing of the drive shaft and causing the grinding noise?
any advice would be great
Thanks guys
