had a refurbed gearbox fitted a couple of weeks ago and was not happy with the work done. Picked car up and gear stick was flopping about like it hadn't been reconnected properly. Drove it away from the garage and as i lifted off accelerator in first gear at a junction and there was a terrible whining noise on overrun. I dipped the clutch and the whining was still there and its only in first gear rest of the gears are fine just first.

Took it back and the Subaru Specialist who fitted the new box and he said there is a problem with the box and nothing to do with fitting it.

anyone any ideas?
