Question

First of all, apologies for what are probably a v simple questions- but there is no search, you know!!

My MY01 is currently unmodded, am considering SS BB + panel filter for aural benefits mainly, but I have read on a recent thread that someone's mpg improved as a result(great angle to sell the idea to Mrs Bexlee if true), and would there be any discernable performance gains?

How have insurance co.s responded to this mod?

Bex

Bexlee - got a MY99 with SS BB and ITG panel filter. These are reputedly said to give c. 8% power increase but the aural benefits are fantastic! Have a look through the dyno section ( see http://dyno.scoobynet.co.uk/ ), this should give you a good average of what to expect, mine does feel bloody rapid with these on

Cheers

"So there you have it. This particular MY01 WRX sedan has - so far - proven very difficult to extract more power..."

And that is with a full system, which would suggest performance increases through a BB only, would be negligble. But the Dyno Results seem encouraging ???????????

Bexlee - can't comment on a change of mpg as these were on the car when I purchased although mpg can range from anything around the 160 miles per 55 litres mark (hard driving ) to 380 miles at a steady constant 90 mph driving ... this was driving down to Croatia whilst on the autobahns, so I wouldn't think it makes a massive difference if at all. I normally, with a mixture of driving, get 260-280 to 55 litres without the red light coming on.

Insurance - I notified Privilege that I had these bits on and they charged me an extra 42 quid for the year but, after talking to a few other people with the same bits and with Privilege, it shouldn't make a difference to the insurance at all; best to chek though as some companies are more receptive than others (Greenlight seem to know what they are talking about in the way of modifications).

Cheers
Phil
