Cooling through gearbox clutch inspection hole?
Hey all,
Silly question really but I've noticed the sti 6 speed has a rubber cover over an inspection hole (just above no3 oil temp location), could cooling air be flowed into this? Would it kick out dust? I was thinking alloy flexi with mess filter on it....

isn't this on the block not on the gear box? All blocks have this?
I also don't see what gains are to be had from doing this? Any airflow through there will be minimal. If you're just wanting to cool the clutch down the design of the clutch should be doing that.
If you do have temp problems there then you've got problems bigger than an extra little bit of cold air is going to cure.
I honestly think you're completely wasting your time

Yeh, that's the bit but I'm sure you can see the flywheel inside it...?
You're most likely spot on, hence saying silly question really...was wonder what the rest of the gearbox housing has for air flow out of parts (or doesn't as the case maybe). I'll drop that idea, just get strong clutch...
