Overboosting since new de-cat exhaust fitted
#1
Hi all, as obove on my 92 legacy Turbo with K@N panel filter and Mongoose full system which removes cats, twice in 2nd gear i've had the fuel cut happen on full throttle and in higher gears it seems to boost well but then loose boost, I suspect this is down to less back pressure in the new exhaust letting the turbo spin harder causing overboost, anyone got any ideas to cure this.
Cheers.

Either live with the overboost and fit a fuel cut defender or superchip. Fun but unpredictable, with a mongoose & a chip my legacy used to boost well off the scale on my boost gauge!! (>>1bar) i done 40,000 miles like this with no reliability probs but now I'm older and wiser wouldn't recommend it as a long term solution.
A better method is :
try fitting a dawes device (manual boost controller @ around £35), it should calm things down and give you the bonus of being able to up the boost a bit if you ever need/want to.
Plenty of threads on the subject, you may need to enlarge the bleed hole to 1-1.5mm (but try as standard first).

Cheers Rich, would the dawes device stop the fuel cut, happening.
Anybody else had problems with this exhaust system, if the ECU can't cope with the extra power could it damage the engine?
