Default WRX and UK Classic Gearbox Compatibility

I need to replace my MY94 UK Turbo gearbox (code TY752VN3BA) and I’ve found a MY97 WRX gearbox and diff (code TY752VBCBA).

I’ve done some research and it looks as if the gearing is different but the data is a bit variable depending on the source. Consensus appears to be that the gearing on the WRX is shorter. Using the gearbox codes on The SPDA - Transmission Chart I get the following:

TY752VN3BA (Current)
1st Gear 3.454
2nd Gear 1.947
3rd Gear 1.366
4th Gear 0.972
5th Gear 0.738
Centre Diff 4.111

TY752VBCBA (WRX)
1st Gear 3.454
2nd Gear 2.062
3rd Gear 1.448
4th Gear 1.088
5th Gear 0.825
Centre Diff 4.111

This seems to suggest that the WRX box has longer gearing than my current box…

Can anyone comment on the above? Am I being dense and have I got it the wrong way round?

Will the TY752VBCBA ‘box be a straight swap with my current TY752VN3BA ‘box and will I need to swap the rear diff also?

How different are the two boxes with regards revs in each gear for everyday driving and how does it affect the mpg?

Any assistance gratefully received
