Engine Knock Display...
not sure if this is the right section...
Anyway, on my MY94 WRX I had a knocklink fitted, which is great, but does anyone know of one that effectively has a 'peak-hold' type feature?
ta,
Matt.

The knocklink is an LM3914N 10 segment bargraph LED driver (like my AFR meter display) with a dual op amp, capacitors, resistors and a few diodes, with a variable resistor for sensitivity. If you look at the LM3914N data sheet it might give you some ideas on how to latch or extend the illumination period. The nine pins on the edge of the board along with pin 1 are the ten outputs - not all are used, but they are pulled low to light common anode LEDs (open collectors). I don't know the Knocklink circuit and whether the op amp and capacitors are making a delay circuit or not. In terms of another product which will hold them I don't know of one "off the shelf". The Link ECU tuning module can display a knock count. However, I gather that a sudden peak is the most specific way to detect knock rather than a gradual rise, so IMHO a peak-hold feature is undesirable.

thanks for the replies guys, my logic behind wanting a peak-hold feature is simply to know if it happened or not, I mean, o.k. it might manifest itself in other ways ( ! ) but at least you could have a bit of a heads up if things head that way, or am I talking b0ll0cks

thinking about it, what I really mean is a 'replay' I guess! i.e. show me max type thing.
