Default Gear box oil leak

Hi, i have a 94 impreza wrx import and its just dumped its gearbox oil. It appears to be coming out of the bellhousing, ive taken the starter off and can see inside an its full of oil. It can only be the input shaft seal, but ive never had one go before and it lost nearly all the oil in about 10mins, has anyone else come across this?
Thanks Sam

The only way to change that seal is to totally split the box in half, a complete bummer for a £5 seal.........

i have heard of this if the spiggott bearing is worn and the input shaft starts moving about damaging the seal

Ive taken the box out now and the spiggott bearing has been destroyed. Its gauged the hole in the crank and slightly rounded the input shaft. Does anyone know if this will be ok?

Does anyone know if the input shaft is meant to have 2 groves in it for the spiggot bearing

Also does anyone know how tight the spiggott bearing should fit?

if it has two grooves in it there is a chance it is worn. Take a pic and email it to me
