Front G/Box Splines sliding out.
Hello Guys.
We have a Classic (1995) impreza, 3.9 ratio version. LSD front and rear.
Now, we have always ran the car without the pins in the front driveshafts for ease of changine on the side of the road .. It's a Rally car by the way.
Now, the front diff seems to have slid the splines across to one side (passenger side) and hence the drive shaft has come out on the opposite side (drivers side)
When the car is driven, it just spits the splines over to the passenger side, and makes some horrible noises..
Anyone come across this before ??
Let me know.

Hey Alex
Its gearbox out time I reckon- sounds like the retaining clip in the stub shaft is missingallowing the diff to 'walk'. But i guess you will have damaged the gear teeth on the diff as well.
Have you taken the half shafts off to see if the stub shafts move about? It could also be the ramp angle of the adjuster thats not up tight enough as well. Difficult without seeing the problem
I always used pins in the half shaft - I used the roll pins but you can use a bolt and nylok nut for ease to release the half shaft.
If you need a hand give me a shout
Cheers
Rob
