Ok my MY97 WRC UK, i got the Baileys Dump Valve on n/p i got the Pipercross on n/p i sorted the noise out ok that i had, but guess what! now i have a flat spot, just before it starts to boost if i stop it and ease of the pedal slow i get a kangaroo type flat spot,
Should i just reset the ECU as i never did this after fitting the above, or is it the timing as i get a lot of backfires i noticed in the exhaust.

Any1 HELP ME! )

hi, suppose ill reply to this one aswell! the backfires are caused by the atmospheric dump valve. basically, the airflow meter senses the amount of air intake, adds the fuel, and then the valve dumps some of this air out of the system, but the airflow meter doesnt know about it. result is, on dumping and also overun, its too rich and the unburnt fuel ignited in the hot exhaust....causing the backfires.
as for the ecu, you could try it, but unsure of this one.

flat spot may well be caused dy the dump valve. i had it on mine, removed the dump valve and it goes like stink, sounds better on gearchange, less lag, and also better fuel economy due to the unwasted fuel.

BUT BEWARE...your turbo wont last as long with no dump valve!

regards

ian
