I've got my downpipe fitted and I thought I'd let you know my thoughts.

Recently bought one second hand(thanks Rich) and booked in to get it fitted last week, the 'mechcanic' said" it's the wrong sort of end mate, it won't fit".
After a few phone calls I found out that most after market downpipes have a flat flange(centre section end) and it will fit after all.
Booked it again, after much arsing about with a broken stud I got it back.

It's great, the turbo seems to spin up lower and faster, so the surge from turbo is more instant and boost is in quicker, it really flys
I've seen posts regarding downpipes saying it doesn't make it any faster, but I have to disagree with that. The rev counter now flys up to 6500 quicker and it doesn't seem as breathless past 5000.
I can't stop grinning behind the wheel and flooring it off round-abouts.The petrol needle going down big time now.
The only other mod I have is a ITG filter and I didn't think it made any difference to the performance, but now I can hear the induction noise from the air filter,I don't know if it's drawing in more air because it's less restrictive, Just a guess

Exhurst noise wise I can't hear any difference, which I'm happy about. I don't want any Max Power drown when I'm driving.
A top mod and one which I would recommend

Regards The Crack

Glad you like it m8!

Told you it would be the best £100 you ever spent!
Did you relag it, because that will help things further esp. in summer with underbonnet temps.

Cheers
Rich

Its a sort of bandage you rap round you downpipe. It keeps the heat down in the engine bay instead of the heatshield.

Also keeps the heat IN the exhaust which in theory makes the gases flow faster.

Got the idea from all these mad 1000bhp Supras and Skylines. They all have it done.

I think you've just persuaded me to get down to Scoobysport and get my DP fitted.

Just out of interest, what happens when it comes to the MOT if you have a complete decat system? ?

Your boned unless you put the cat back on or a they might turn a blind eye(cough)if you bung the mechcanic a few quid.

Mine went through with centre section cat only: easy to change (4 bolts and a rubber hanger).
Try to make sure you get it hot first to help your chances.
