How can you tell if your clutch release bearing is knackered

What are your experiences in terms of clutch feel, strange noises, gear changes etc ????

Sometimes a sort of crunchy sensation when the pedal goes down. Or a light whining when the clutch is operated. you usually can make a release bearing whine just by using the first inch or so of travel. ln and out by an inch ought to produce the noise, as that is when it takes the load.
