STI JDM Gear Box Question?
Hi Guys,
I have just bought an STI Bug Eye on a 2001 plate. It is a JDM car with only 27k genuine miles!
The car is in stunning condition and i am very happy with it. It drives like a new car and the interior looks like it hasnt even been sat in!!
The only issue i have is with the gear box?
I has a six speed box and the guy i bought it from builds gear boxes for a living and honestly told me that if was to be very particular the only thing which maybe needs doing in the car is maybe new bushes on the i think he said gear linkages?? (I think!!)
However, he said on this model you need to drop the gear box to do this? Is this true. If so how much would this cost approx?
The gear box is ok, but just feels notchy when changing and hard?? I have only driven WRX's in the past and i know the STI has a different gear box which is close ratio i believe.
It seems better going up the gears but can be a little tricky going down the gears?
Is this normal for an STI??
I would appreciate any advice!
Thanks
