Default "Clicking" clutch - solution!?

I have a 2003 WRX and have noticed that when I take my foot completely off the clutch and reapply pressure I feel a "clicking" type thing - it doesn't make any noise and it's definitely inside the car.

Feels like a spring contracting type feeling if you know what I mean.

It only happens when I take my foot completely off the pedal and reapply pressure, it does not happen when my foot is on the clutch pedal so much that the pedal is not fully released.

The clutch itself is fine and there is no slippage what-so-ever.

I’ve read about adjusting the play on the clutch pedal itself by adjusting the clutch rod with a 12mm & 6mm spanner inside the car. (being a contortionist is useful!)

I’ve also read that removing the large(ish) spring attached to the pedal inside the car has also worked. (this does make the clutch roughly 50% heavier)

Anyone tried any of the above & cured their clutch “clicking”???

Strangely enough mine did this after having my new clutch fitted. On investigation I found my foot was actually catching on the piping on my mat cos it had moved
