Default Auto box noisey when cold.

In the cold weather the auto box on my 2005 2.5 legacy makes strange noises for the first couple of miles. Once warm the noises stop. I change the ATF filter and oil regualy. Give us a clue!

What sort of noises ?
I take it you take it easy for the first ten minutes or so untill it has fully warmed up.
not being patronising you have checked the oil level ?

The noise is difficult to describe, as I am in the car when it occurs, it possibily sounds like fluid being forced through a small appeture. It only occurs when you select drive or reverse and again only once the car is moving. Fair question but I change the ATF and the filter regularly and the level is OK. Once warm all appears to be Ok. But it never used to do it and I know its not right. Thanks for th intereste.

No slip as far as I can tell. MPG is ok changed the oil 2 weeks ago and 5,000 miles before that. I have had this noise for several months when I first start of in the morning particualy when the weather is very cold.

These boxes are a little interesting to fill up, you have to fill them to the line then start the car, then top them up, you could still have a slightly low oil level, or the torque converter may be worn
