Default 5th gear prob

Just had new ported headers fitted on my 04 Sti Uk and when driving home after nicely warmed up I pushed in 4th and had problem when engaging 5th, very noisy and grating on the gear stick. I thought I had not fully used clutch so tried again and same result. All the other selections fine and 5th also OK if not pushing it, ie. driving normally. Is it likely just to happen like this when perfectly ok before headers changed? Is it a synchromesh problem? Is it fixable or what?
Any help/advise greatly appreciated.

Just had an Excedy fitted very recently, I'm running 320 at the wheels.

Why would only 5th be affected too?

Try using castrol syntrax instead of fully synth oil, helped on mine as used to crunch in 3rd and 5th, now just 5th on full chat - means my box needs some TLC
