Default 4th gear baulking on a classic

Hi I'm looking for some advice.

Initially (15,000 miles ago) 4th gear occasionally baulked when changing from 5th to 4th, blipping the throttle on a down change eased this.

However over the last 2000 miles 4th has started to baulk when changing from 3rd as well. (at medium to high revs).

At the last service (1000 miles ago) there were some metal filings on the gearbox sump plug.

Is this problem the syncro on 4th?

Obviously this will continue to get worse so what would people suggest. Do I leave it to get worse and fit a new/replacement gearbox then or can it be repaired now before any further damage?

Thanx

sounds like a synchro problem.
