I have a 2.2 engine and am thinking about building it up , but I have a few questions .
Has anyone put the 2litre heads on the 2.2 bottom end ? I know the 22b was 2.2 is it the same block but open deck?
Does anyone like cosworth make pistons to fit the 2.2 ?
Are the rods the same as in the 2 litre ?
Cheers Dave

Dave,
The 2.2 (inc' 22b) uses the same rods, and crank as the 2.0lt. The heads will go straight on, but it would be worth spending a bit on them, and have the combustuion chambers matched to the larger bore.
Pistons should be pretty easy, if not a little expensive. They will be the same as the 22b, and Graham Goode normally have them on the shelf. Assuming you want to stay with 8:1 compression. GG will also have the 22b head gaskets, again for strength, and compression.
Depending on what power you're aiming for, don't forget an uprated clutch, and gearbox, fuel system, etc'.
Mark.

Just thinking of something for when this engine expires The pony has now gone back out to the fields , it was a good car for the job it did .

Thanks for the info I allready have a few of the things you mentioned on the list like uprated clutch , larger injectors , ported heads , will just need to get the combustion chambers done .
Cheers Dave
