As you say; It isn't the cost of the motor - it is all the kit to go with it, to make it work properly that adds up.
We can all build a proper 2.5 short motor with steel / forged internals for circa 2 grand. Although most quotes up to now, have been based around a dollar exchange rate of 2 : 1 [ ish ]
Today it is 1.62 : 1 a hike of about 19% which will make a material difference to the cost of the 2.5 short motors from now on.
