OIL COOLER yes or no ?

Great mod. Keeps the engine temp down. And makes the car run smoother. Keeps the oil at a temperature at which the oil best operates at. Engine oils performance degrades the hotter it gets.

You should be ok fitting the expensive Power Engineering kit assuming you have a UK car without aircon. PE fitted their first oil cooler kit on my car and didn't secure the braided hoses correctly, so thit ate through and killed my air con rad. Another company then managed to loose my rad after getting a quote of 300 quid to repair it.

if you do end up getting one, it's definately worth checking out this company as a possible DIY alternative to P.E.

They supply all the bits and pieces you might need to fit your own oil cooler (mocal cooler, pipes/hoses, remote filter heads etc) - which, when I last asked, came to a toal of AROUND £140. They are located in Isleworth, near Hounslow.
They will answer any questions you may have about how to fit etc...
Thought it worth mentioning a DIY alternative to supplied and fitted kits...

External oil coolers are a worthwhile modification on a car that it used hard (track days etc), but if you are going to use the car on the road as well don't forget to fit an oil thermostat. Cold oil kills engines as much as too hot oil. Subaru fit a water oil cooler/heater to the 2000 Turbo and WRX (and presumably STi as well) as standard, and this is very effective for every day use.
