Default Flywheel Help

Are all EJ20 engines fitted with the same flywheel?

I only ask as we have tried to fit the clutch from my old engine onto the new one and the holes wont line up no matter how we position the pressure plate on the new engines flywheel!!!

Help please!!!

There are 224mm clutches and 230mm clutches on GC8 turbo cars They both fit the same flywheel.

I suspect that one of your engines has a non turbo flywheel fitted where the boltholes will be in a different place. Lets hope that it is the fkywheel that is wrong and not the clutch it could get expensive.

There are two flywheels but both are interchangeable and look the same. The usual flywheel is about 12.2 kg and there are some at 10.7 kg or thereabouts.
Would a flywheel photo assist you ?
If so e-mail me at harveysmith1@btopenworld.com

On the left the OE Classic flywheel surface ground and lightened.
On the right the OE New Age flywheel surface ground. Although both flywheels look different they are interchangeable.
The drilled holes are from the OE manufacturing process for dynamic balancing at point of manufacture.
All our lightened or reprocessed flywheels are surface ground and balanced prior to use.
A long time ago we found that machining Subaru flywheels was a non starter because of the hard surface which could induce chatter.

Thanks for that, the one on the new engine is different to both and has a very raised area where the friction plate sits, if you overlay it on my original flywheel the holes are a good 5mm out so god knows what its off.

Picked up anther flywheel now that is the same as the original, so the rebuild is back on track!!
