just picked up my 53k my2004 wrx , and found after 60 miles of ownership gearbox is noisy , especially on the overrun in 3rd/4th/5th , (dealer trying to say all imprezas are noisy due to 4wd system , told him thats bull**** and to replace the gearbox or i go to trading standards) , is this normal for a relatively low mileage wrx box to disintegrate , its a standard car with a full subaru history and just covered 53,400 miles ,( i have a 3-door cozzy with 330bhp through a standard T5 gearbox and never had any problems , although it is only 2wd) first scooby ive owned and impressed with the handling but i will have to have a play with the motor 225bhp seems a bit docile and theres nothing happening below 3000rpm , so an exhaust and remap is on the way, after the box is sorted

tbh will depend on how its been treated, you can kill a box in them in 2000 miles if you realy try hard enough.

but again if treated well then will last 150k miles or more.

shouldn't be noisey though
