Got a 2003 WRX impreza with the gearbox gone.
Put it in garage and they tell me it was bone dry, all bearings gone and 4th gear missing 3 teeth.
Wots the best option.
1.Garage rebuild it
2.Source reconditioned box
3.Source Box from breakers (30-60 days warranty)
Or anything else would help.
Also, has anyone heard of www.gearbox999.com in Birmingham cos they say they can supply and fit a reconditioned box for £600+vat.
Seems very cheap and suspicious

Sounds like you need to talk to API. Although I've never had occasion to use them myself they have a good reputation on this forum for getting this sort of thing right which may not be true for any of your options above.
