Unhappy

Mines a Terzo (98) and tnight i took it 4 a blast, when i eventually stopped the revs shot up to 1500, obviously i didnt have my foot anywhere near the obvious, so i watched it for a while and it didnt move, so i gave it a blip & it shot down to nearly stall mode. After a few secxs it slowly picked up to 750 but it now wont go above that on idle, when revved it doesnt settle as quick either.

When i first got the car it was sitting at about 900 and when it was at this level it was very responsive, but now cos its sitting at a lower idle its got a slight pause when blipped.

Has any1 got a clue what it could be??

Hope someone can help

Thanks

Scoby

I am having some real headaches with my idling on my WRX 94 , and have been searching back through the posts . When mine is working fine it idles about 1000 rpm mark , however it does blip to 1200 / 1300 but settles back at 900/1000RPM mark.

I would suspect a UK model will be similar , try searching back through the posts , my heads mashed now its late and i cant remember all the possibilities listed.

good luck

Question

Have you tried resetting the ECU to check for error codes. My MY97WRX has/had a tickover problem when the engine gets warm after several short trips where the tick over increases, when I connected the 2 black connectors under the dash to clean the boost solenoid I got an error code of 24 which turned out to be the Idle Control Valve, this was replaced under warranty. So far it shas been OK.

Mine reached 2K rpm at one point, but 1000 to 1500 was about the norm for the described fault.

Hadn't worried about it.
