I know all this has been done to death, but can anyone put answers to these questions in plain english.
i have a my00,with magnex backbox and decat center, it runs well sounds great and i have had the emissions checked and it didnt even register at tickover, it did rise qite sharply at crusing speed though.
Q1. has anyone had a downpipe equiped motor checked for emisions would it pass an mot? changing and refitting at mot time may be too much hassle for potential gains
Q2 with any of the downpipes on offer esp the hks will the engine suffer from detonation or pinking .if yes what other mods will i need.
Q3 Hks have a resonably priced pipe,is this any good?
thanks and sorry if this question has been answered lately
regards
Dave

seeing as you already have a de-cat centre, fitting a downpipe would mean a certain fail on emissions, however, some say that with just a catted centre, (easy to refit for mot) it should pass.
You shouldn't get detonation so long as you stick with the standard ecu.
Can't comment on hks d/p, I've got the scoobysport one and I'm well pleased!

It will denfinately fail with no cats.
I've got a PE catted centre which works fine but was £400 !
Some people have got by with a standard centre but mine failed - there does seem to be a difference between cars so it's really trial & error.
