Looking for info on exhaust mods for magazine.

I stupidly volunteered to write an article for the Irish Subaru Drivers Club mag Torque regarding upgrading exhausts on Scoobys. Knowing naff all about them I must have been mad. It is only our second edition so we want to get it right this time. What I need to find is a resource of info regarding what the benefits of down pipes, centre sections twin dumps etc... will do for your car. I know the basics of cat removal will free up the gas flow, but I just want to get my facts right and all the technical jargon to go along with it.
If anyone has written articles before and wouldn't mind sharing their knowledge with the rest of the members of our club I would be more than grateful.
Cheers
Alan

Scruff,
Only thing I know is that a SS backbox makes it quite loud.....While a fully decatted SS exhaust is b****y noisy
Oh and if you are running a decatted dowpipe and its a bit too loud in the car then use exhaust wrap to insulate not only the heat but the noise as well.
