Default No third gear !!

Hi All,

As the title suggests I have a bit of a problem....

Had a strange noise when i was in third earlier today, drove about half a mile and then when in third suddenly pinged back into neutral.

Drove home really slowly and there is a sound that I could only describe that would sound like a tumble drier full of bolts on spin.................and I don't have a third gear anymore, engine just revs in that gear.

So anyway it is obvious that the sound i hear is shed teeth in the box, I am after some advice on what options are open to me and costs please.

Best PM them both yourself mate for the speediest response. You can rebuild, get a reconditioned box, or go for an uprated replacement e.g. PPG.

Nothing will be cheap I'm afraid, but if you're running std or near std torque then at least your hand isn't forced into going for an upgrade, which are the most expensive options.

All the best,

I do have upgrades, think the BHP is around 300 so might be better to think about a stronger box. The car has done 110k miles as well so I guess things are going to start to go.

Maybe think about doing a six speed conversion.
